I remember you.
I think I'm the only one between us two who remembers.
Bus shelter runaways, late night candle light,
Fast food junkies, a smoker in an alleyway.
Quick, we'd say. We don't have much time.
Wear out our souls, duct tape to fix,
Chaos followed me home.
Beer in an empty grand stand,
Scale a fence; break an ankle.
Train tracks to nowhere,
for three days we were lost.
I don't remember how we stayed awake,
but I remember every word you said.
I'd never seen you cry before,
and the music drowned you out.
You made me promise,
I gave you my word,
And I miss you every day.
